WEEK 2 and WEEK 3

For these two weeks, we brainstormed and move forward into thinking on how we can get the sponsors. Firstly, we received the formal letter from Mr Edwin which states about the sponsorship and what the project is about and we can start emailing these letters for different companies, which we have done already.

In the furniture team, we have received a few replies already from different companies. One of the groupmates for the team has already got sponsors for tables and chair and bean bags which is good and another groupmate has already gotten a few furniture from his church. Overall, we are doing well in getting some furniture. However, we are still lacking shelves and therefore still waiting on replies from companies about shelves or if can get any other sponsors from the companies.

Another thing that we also tried to find was the amount of table and chairs that we would require by quickly planning out the space on autocad and roughly estimating and organizing the chairs on the plan, to see how many of these furniture we can fit in the space.

As the project manager, me and Darren had to talk to all of the group leader teams and asking them for updates of their progress, whether or not they have received any replies or any sort of sponsors yet.

Since we were in the sponsorship team, we also needed to think about making a poster and pasting it around the campus and asking for donations of books and stationary. Therefore we started to plan on what information we should include in the poster. Our aim by next week is to already have a designated place in SLC in where we can leave a box for students to donate their stationary and books.

WEEK 1

For this first week, we were briefed about the project, which is a community in need and renovating the interior of a reading space at Ulu Melaka Orang Asli Village. We had to contribute to different aspects of this project. For this project, Semester 6 students were the sponsorship team, therefore we focus more on getting sponsors to get new items for the library such as furniture, paint, books, and stationery.

I decided to join the furniture team and also volunteered with my friend, Darren, to be in charge of this project, so as the project manager. I decided to be one of the project managers because I thought this would help challenge myself into being a leader and make sure the project is well organized and making sure that everyone in the class is doing their part of the job. For next week, we will have to already think of ways on how to get sponsors.
